Sousan graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in General Psychology from the American University of Beirut. She went on to get her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University (New York). Afterwards, Sousan completed further graduate coursework in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, and from the University of California (Los Angeles; Santa Barbra). She is a behavior analyst certified by the Behavioral Analysis Certification Board (BACB) and the International Behavior Analysis Organization (IBAO). To expand her professional repertoire, she completed training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Additionally, she also became an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist by completing the training from the acclaimed EMDR International Association (EMDRIA). She is currently working towards her licensure as a psychologist in her home country of Lebanon. Furthermore, as of August 2024, she began working towards her Doctorate of Social Sciences in Prevention Science.
For over 15 years, she has worked in the field of mental healthcare across all ages (1.5 years old to geriatric ages), with a variety of afflictions and issues (e.g., neurodivergence, depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, traumatic brain injury recovery, parenting difficulties, etc.), in different capacities (e.g., research, lecturing, training, consulting, direct therapy, group therapy, learning support assistance, supervision, etc.), and across different countries (e.g., Lebanon, USA, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, etc.). She brings deep passion to her work as she believes it is her mission in life to help others’ mental health and life fulfilment, increase awareness and de-stigmatization, and share her knowledge and experience with likeminded professionals. She currently practices privately as a Behavior Analyst, ACT Practitioner, and EMDR-trained Therapist. She also serves as the president of the ABAL (Association for Behavior Analysis in Lebanon, affiliated with ABAI).
